ENGINEERING FOR MOSES KOTANE MUNICIPALITY

In 2012, Boffin & Fundi was appointed by Moses Kotane Local Municipality as a specialist service provider for their refurbishment, water conservation & water demand management. The project was categorised into various sub-projects. B&F’s services covered the refurbishment (repair) of bulk water infrastructure (e.g. pump stations, borehole equipment, reservoirs, bulk supply lines, bulk meters, pipelines, control valves, reticulation pipelines) and water conservation and demand management (e.g. information management system, consumer registers, flow and pressure monitoring, maintenance model, customer care and management training).

Boffin & Fundi have provided the technical expertise and oversight (project management) for the implementation of these projects. The projects have helped in reducing water leakages, whilst enhancing water conservation, and efficiency in water demand management.

SMARTER CITIES OF THE FUTURE – WATER & SANITATION 1

To meet these challenges cities of the future, their leaders, and communities will need to implement smart innovative solutions that embrace a blend of public and private collaboration. This will need to be coupled with disciplined inclusive processes and procedures that not only meet fundamental needs, with regards to water supply and sanitation but also preserve the numerous indirect benefits water has within a city such as dignity, community health, wellbeing and biodiversity.

SMARTER CITIES OF THE FUTURE – WATER & SANITATION

Water is an essential part of everyday life – from being our essential drinking liquid to removing our waste. Just as water circulates in the global hydrologic cycle, water in our cities also flows in an urban water cycle that is one of the modern world’s fundamental systems.
